About Us

Antorcha is a non-profit organization, which aims to contribute to the personal development of young adults with disabilities. Antorcha provides its students with opportunities for diverse occupational training in its various workshops, allowing them to discover and develop their individual abilities and eventually work towards finding employment. Antorcha was founded on the 14th of May 1998 in Jinotepe, Nicaragua, by a group of volunteers who wanted to fight back against the lack of opportunities that young adults in Nicaragua face once they graduate from schools for children with special needs.

TRAINING WORKSHOPS

Through its training workshops, Antorcha prepares young adults for their integration into the labor market, hus improving their quality of life.

ACTIVITIES

At Antorcha, we also have a Day Care program for young adults with moderate to severe disabilities. The program aims to improve students´ independence and autonomy, promoting their inclusion into the community.

HELP US

If you would like to help us in sustaining this valuable project, you can do so in different ways:

Plea for PRAYER

People with intellectual disabilities often have the gift of touching our hearts with their vulnerability. With their tenderness and love, they teach us to live our lives in happiness – Jean Vanier, founder of the L´Arche community and founder of the Faith and Light spiritual Community, was convinced of this. They teach us to be more easygoing, sweet, compassionate, and fair. In Antorcha´s chapel “The little house of Jesus”, the students will pray your prayers with special intention and their pure faith and spontaneity. If you wish to send a prayer to us, fill this form and we will pray for you every day.
